"Replacing Omron Waterproof Micro Switches in 2026: Second Sources Matched to D2VW, D2HW and D2SW"

2026-10-23

An Omron waterproof micro switch already in a design or a machine has form, fit and function equivalents from several established manufacturers, matched on the IP67 rating and the footprint. Will an equivalent chosen on the IP67 rating and the footprint work in the position where the original switch sits today? The full part number on the original switch fixes the parts covered by the IP67 rating, the load the contacts suit and the spacing of the mounting holes, and a buyer checks an equivalent against the Omron datasheet on each item. Each Omron sealed series gets its own comparison, with the goal of a second-source shortlist a buyer can check against the Omron part number on the BOM.

The Omron datasheet behind each full part number

Each Omron sealed switch reaches the BOM as a full part number, and the datasheet behind that number sets which parts the IP67 rating covers, what load the contacts take and how far apart the mounting holes sit. From July 2026 the manufacturer name on that BOM line reads Aratas, which Electropages reports as "largely one of branding", and the name update is a natural point to review a second source against the same datasheet.

Start from the series and the codes printed on your part, because an equivalent is matched to that same version.

Sealed seriesParts covered by IP67Contact loadMounting
D2VWTerminal models: IP67 excluding the terminals. Molded lead wire models: IP675 A at 250 VAC (code 5) or 0.1 A at 30 VDC (code 01)22.2 ± 0.1 mm spacing, 3.1 mm holes or M3
D2HWTerminal models: IP67 excluding the terminals. Molded lead wire models: IP671 mA at 5 VDC to 2 A at 12 VDCWithout posts, with posts, or M3 screw
D2SWTerminal models: IP67 excluding the terminals. Molded lead wire models: IP673 A at 125 VAC (code 3) or 0.1 A at 30 VDC (code 01)9.5 ± 0.1 mm spacing, 2.4 mm holes or M2.3
D2SW-PTemporary waterproofing protection (IEC IP67)2 A at 250 VAC (code 2) or 0.1 A at 30 VDC (code 01)Compatible with the SS and D2SW series
D2JWSolder terminal models: IP67 excluding the terminals. Molded lead wire models: IP670.1 A at 30 VDC, gold-alloy contactsM2.3 screw holes

The IP67 coverage decides which version a second source is quoted against. A terminal model is IP67 "excluding the terminals on terminal models" and a molded lead wire model is IP67 as a whole, so you'll quote a terminal version against a terminal model and a lead-wire version against a molded lead wire model, as explained in where each supplier's IP67 rating stops.

The load code and the ending S work the same way. D2VW-01 is the 0.1 A micro-load tier and D2VW-5 the 5 A tier, and an ending S marks "the UL/cUL-approved version", so the second source has to quote the same tier and its own UL/cUL-approved version.

Matching a second source to an Omron sealed series, then item by item

A second source makes this shortlist with a sealed snap-action series whose own product page or datasheet states IP67, and the size class and contact load on that page point to the closest series in the table above, as a subminiature switch rated 3 A at 125 VAC sits next to the D2SW code 3.

The Omron cross-reference guide hosted by Relay Specialties grades such a pairing in two steps, where an Exact Cross is "Fit, form and function interchangeability with competitor's product" and a Similar Cross is "Basic interchangeability with varying characteristics/features". A second source paired on size class and load starts as a Similar Cross, and each item confirmed on the datasheet or the drawing moves it toward an Exact Cross.

Each item of a candidate either lines up on the published datasheet or goes to the drawing before a sample order. An item lines up when the candidate's page states a value equal to the baseline figure or covering it, as 3 A at 12 VDC covers 2 A at 12 VDC.

ZINGEAR G5W11-WZ200-W2 lists Protection Class IP67 and 5A at 125/250VAC and 30VDC, so a D2VW-5 line narrows to outline and hole spacing, both checked on the drawing. ZINGEAR G303-130S00A28 lists IP67 and 3A at 12VDC, which covers the D2HW upper rating of 2 A at 12 VDC. The automotive micro switch line that carries ZINGEAR G303 holds IATF 16949 across the full series, so a D2HW line in a vehicle program is sourced under that quality system.

DONGNAN

DONGNAN rates the subminiature WS4 "IEC IP50 (Terminal type)" and "IEC IP67 (Wire leads type)", and the WS8 "IEC IP67 (Except exposed terminals)" at 0.1A 12VDC. WS4 wire leads type sits next to a D2SW molded lead wire part, and WS8 next to the D2JW micro-load tier.

Honeywell

Honeywell's V15W, ZW and ZD datasheets state IP67 on leaded versions and IP00 with exposed terminals, and ZW and ZD hole spacing (9.50 and 9.53 ± 0.15 mm) sits on the D2SW 9.5 mm figure.

KANGERLE (KEL)

The KW2-1A-B-B page states IP67 "after wiring" and "0.1A 125/250V AC; 3A 12V DC", which places the KW2 next to a D2VW-01 part, with the general-load tier compared on the drawing.

Starting points for each Omron sealed series

For each series, ask first for samples from the candidates with the most items already lining up on their published datasheets, since those leave the fewest items for the drawing check.

  • D2VW: ZINGEAR G5W11 for D2VW-5 parts on 5 A and IP67; Honeywell V15W and KANGERLE KW2 for D2VW-01 parts on the 0.1 A tier.
  • D2HW: ZINGEAR G303 for base-mounted parts on the 12 VDC load; TONELUCK MQS-43 for molded lead wire parts.
  • D2SW: ZINGEAR G10B03 for code 3 parts on 3 A at 125 V; Honeywell ZW and ZD on the 9.5 mm spacing; DONGNAN WS4 wire leads type; TONELUCK MQS-9C for D2SW-01 terminal parts.
  • D2SW-P: The D2SW candidates apply, since the D2SW-P mounting is compatible with the D2SW, with the 2 A at 250 VAC rating checked separately.
  • D2JW: DONGNAN WS8 and ZF (Cherry) WG on the 0.1 A tier at 12 VDC, with the 30 VDC rating compared on the drawing.

Reading the full Omron part number into a sample request

Published datasheets settle part of the comparison, and the full part number carries the rest, field by field, as the D2VW model number legend shows.

Field in the part numberWhat the field fixesWhat the second source quotes against it
Ratings: 5 or 01General load at 5 A, or micro-load at 0.1 AA version in the same load tier
Actuator: none, L1A, L1, L1B, L2A, L2 or L3Pin plunger, hinge lever, roller lever or simulated rollerThe same actuator, with operating position and force
Contact form: -1, -2 or -3SPDT, SPST-NC or SPST-NOThe same contact form
Terminals: none or HS, M or MSSolder terminals or molded lead wires, and so the parts covered by IP67A terminal or lead-wire version to match, with its IP67 statement
Ending SThe UL/cUL-approved versionA UL/cUL-approved version
Lead length: none or -0300 mm or 1,000 mm molded lead wireThe same lead length
Outside the part number: mountingHole spacing and outline on your drawingHole spacing and outline against the drawing, or a part configured to it

Sending the full part number and the drawing together lets each candidate answer every row at once. Where a ZINGEAR part is among the candidates for that line, a ZINGEAR datasheet cross-check can set its model, load tier, terminal or lead-wire version and outline against the full part number.

Once a sample passes in the position, the second source goes onto the BOM next to the original line, with the same field-by-field record kept for each approved part.

FAQ About Replacing Omron Sealed Micro Switches

Do Omron sealed switch datasheets carry the Aratas name yet?

The datasheets used here carry the OMRON name and catalogue numbers, such as Cat. No. C095-E1-08 for the D2VW. Recording the catalogue number next to the manufacturer name on the BOM keeps each second-source approval tied to the datasheet it was checked against.

What operating temperature range do the Omron sealed series cover?

The D2VW, D2HW, D2SW and D2JW datasheets give -40°C to +85°C, and the D2SW-P gives -20°C to +70°C. A candidate's own range is checked against the figure for the exact series on the BOM.

Which direction does Omron's own cross reference run?

The Omron guide hosted by Relay Specialties maps Microswitch, Cherry and Unimax parts to Omron parts. A second source for an Omron part is checked the other way round, from the Omron datasheet to the candidate's datasheet and drawing.

How long are the molded lead wires on an Omron sealed part?

D2VW and D2SW molded lead wire models have 300 mm leads as standard and 1,000 mm with the -0 code, and the D2HW lists 30 cm standard leads. Lead length therefore goes into the sample request with the rest of the part number.
